Homemade Falafel - the Healthy Vegan Oil-Free Recipe

A traditional, vegan-friendly, chickpea-based delicacy with a kick of spice and seriously nutritious profile.

This falafel recipe is high in iron, fibre, protein and vitamins A and C for very few calories and little fat content.

A match made in heaven with homemade hummus.

  • Ingredients
  • 400g chickpeas
  • 100g whole wheat flour
  • 1tbsp tomato puree
  • 1tsp harissa spices
  • 1tsp ground coriander
  • 1/4tsp himalayan pink salt
  • 1/2tsp black pepper
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 15g coriander leaves
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • Method
  • Blitz all of the ingredients into a textured mixture that holds its shape.
  • Bake for 20 minutes at 180℃ or until crispy - unless you plan on frying them, as is traditional.
  • Serve with hummus and a side salad.
